Grief is one of the most difficult experiences of life.

We are rarely prepared for the intensity of some of the emotional reactions following the loss of a loved one. We sometimes wonder how we will be able to go on.

Grief Chat

We recognise that some people may need immediate access to bereavement support. Early intervention and counselling can help to prevent or lessen further mental health challenges that can come with grief.

Grief Chat gives any bereaved person the opportunity to speak with a qualified, professional bereavement counsellor via online instant chat service, Monday to Friday 09:00 – 21:00 (GMT), no matter where they are in the world at no cost to them.

Please click on the pop up link to access this service.

Grief Journey South Somerset

As a result, in April 2013 we hosted two seminars in Crewkerne led by internationally-renowned speaker, author and grief counsellor Dr Bill Webster. Feedback from both the public and professionals was overwhelming, and emphasised the demand for ongoing, local bereavement support, which at that time was otherwise unavailable or inaccessible.

Our response was to recruit a team of volunteer facilitators and our first 6-week programme began in Crewkerne in January 2014, we now arrange and co-ordinate easily accessible group sessions twice a year.

These groups, ‘Grief Journey South Somerset’ are free of charge to attend and are open to anyone who has been bereaved, or who may be supporting family members or friends after a loss. You do not need a medical referral to attend. Please look at our ‘news’ section for the dates of our next group.

Bereavement Support

We are acutely aware of the life-changing impact of bereavement.

Our response was to recruit a team of volunteer facilitators and outsource training for them from Dr Webster’s Centre for the Grief Journey UK.

Our first 6-week programme began in Crewkerne in January 2014, and we now arrange and co-ordinate easily accessible group sessions three times a year.

In partnership with the Centre for the Grief Journey, our online portal, Grief Solutions, also provides immediate advice and reassurance from your own home, 24 hours a day.
